Your Station
Your location, power, antenna, height, and orientation are remembered in this browser for next time — the target station isn't, since that changes every time you use this.

This is a simplified model, not a full VOACAP-style prediction. Ionospheric probability uses the standard secant-law MUF (critical frequency ÷ sin(takeoff angle)) with hop geometry from a flat-earth approximation, scaled to today's live solar flux — that part doesn't depend on your station. Your power and antenna then adjust the estimated SNR relative to a 100W, well-matched reference station: height changes which elevation angle a dipole or vertical actually favors, and orientation (wire bearing for a dipole, beam heading and beamwidth for a Yagi) changes whether that favored angle is actually pointed at the target — a vertical is omnidirectional, so orientation doesn't apply to it. Together these drive the Chance-of-Contact percentage down for a mismatched, misaimed, or low-power setup even on an otherwise-open band, and drive the Suggested Mode / Estimated Signal readouts. Treat this as a planning estimate, not a guarantee.
